Service Cancellations

In order to assure the health and safety of all those on our property it may occasionally become necessary to postpone or cancel a regularly scheduled service. We are committed to making such decisions in a wise and timely manner and to communicating all such decisions through numerous means to assure every person can be kept up to date.

 

Cancellations on the Web

All postponements and cancellations of regularly scheduled services of the entire church will be posted on the Home Page (CedarCrestBfc.org) of this website. There will be a banner in large red at the top of the page between the photo banner and the sermon banner (click here to see a sample image of the page) If there is not a message on the home page assume that services will be conducted as advertised.

The only services that are regularly included in this web site alert are the weekly Sunday Morning Worship Services and Sunday School classes, the Wednesday Night prayer meeting and kids clubs, and special church sponsored community events such as Choir Concerts, Concerts of Prayer, Missions Conference events, etc. Other event announcements may occasionally appear on the web site as well, but are not guaranteed to be advertised in this forum (see "Other Activities" sections below)

Cancellations via Email and RSS

There are several email mailing lists and automated RSS feeds you can subscribe to on this website. Both the Urgent Alert list and the News list will be updated whenever a new cancellation or postponement message is posted. This means that if you subscribe to either the email or the RSS version of either of these lists you will be notified of the full text of the message being posted on the web site at the same time that it is posted on the site. Cancellations on Radio and TV

All Cancellations of major church sponsored events (see below for definition) will also be advertised on radio and TV in the Lehigh Valley. We are committed to informing the stations listed below (note: some stations may have shorter or longer delays between the time we inform them and the time they include our name in the broadcast).

Standard Cancellation / Postponement Times and Options

The Administrative Committee is responsible for all decisions regarding postponing or canceling regularly scheduled Sunday Morning Worship and Sunday School and Wednesday Night activities. Their general policy is to make any such decisions 2.5 hours in advance of the scheduled event so that all web, radio and TV sites can be broadcasting the announcement at least 2 hours prior to the event. (thus for Sunday Morning, they normally decide by 6:30am so by 7:00am all broadcasts are out).

For Sunday Morning if the weather / condition of roads and parking lot are questionable they may decide to cancel the 9:00am service and all Sunday School classes, having a single service at 10:30am.

Policy for Deciding to Cancel Services / Special Events

The Administrative Committee is responsible for all decisions regarding postponing or canceling regularly scheduled Sunday Morning Worship and Sunday School and Wednesday Night activities. They will typically have someone on site at the church to determine the conditions of the parking lot and roads approaching the church, as well as consulting weather and road reports in the region. They will also take in to consideration that many in our church come from more distant, rural areas that may be less accessible.

For any special events that effect the larger congregation, such as scheduled Sunday Evening services at the church, Choir Concerts, etc. the Administrative Committee will consult with the leader of the event to determine both whether to cancel the event or not and whether the event is of broad enough concern to advertise the cancellation through all normal means.

Policy for Cancellation of Other On-Campus Activities

If a major service is canceled all related activities, including rehearsals and other events that may have been in the building during the stated service are canceled by default. If some group feels they need to meet they must contact the facilities manager for permission to use the building and they would be responsible for communication with their members. The facilities manager and the Administrative Committee have final say whether anyone can use the facilities.

For events scheduled throughout the week apart from the main Sunday and Wednesday services of the church the individual leader of the event is responsible to decide if they will meet or not and to communicate that to all interested parties. The Administrative Committee will not monitor or advertise the status of such events. If the condition of the church facilities is in question the leader should contact the facilities manager, who has the authority to cancel any event on the property if the conditions would make that event unsafe for any reason.

For events scheduled throughout the day when Lehigh Christian Academy is in session the general policy is to follow the school. If it remains open the events can continue to meet. If they close or dismiss early due to the conditions, then all other events in the building are assumed canceled.

Policy for Cancellation of Other Off-Campus Activities

Off-campus groups, including LIFE Groups, are fully at the discretion of the leader. The leader should ascertain the conditions at the meeting location as well as the travel options available to those that would attend. The leader is solely responsible for communicating all such decisions to those involved. If you have a question about such an event, please contact the leader rather than the church office.
